Description

To: Ira Reber- My Special Dad To You-My Special Dad When I was little, I watched you with pride, Remember on the tractor with you I would ride. Sitting on your lap, my special dad I did adore, And now as I'm older, dad means even more. I want you to know dad, how proud I'm of you, For all that you've done, for all you've been through, Though crippled you are, with crutches you walk, Looking forward to the day the Lord releases the lock. When you step on your own without any support, Your body with no afflictions of any sort. You've suffered, survived, done it all on your own. And with never a cry, complaint or a moan. Your perseverance, your wisdom, your keen mind for math, Your beautiful smile, calm voice, and cheerful laugh. Have touched me, my life, your only child, your daughter, And I'm so proud to say that you are my father. And all of the others whose lives you touch, Of Ira Reber, they think so very much. See, I know as well, as all of the rest, When it comes to life, you have passed the test . With not much strength now, you lay and wonder, Days pass by slowly and gloomy, like rain and thunder. But sunshine will come again for you dad, And having you to love, for that I am glad. Two strong legs to you, I wish I could give, So more fully in life you would be able to live. But all I can give to you now is my love, And leave all the rest to heaven above. Tears fall from eyes now, as this message I write, How I wish you were near to give a big kiss goodnight. Please remember Dad, I'm always thinking of you, Everyday I miss and love you so very much too. Love Carolynn. 24 February 1986
