Sad Irons - setEntry/Object ID
1990.5.0001Description
Mrs. Potts sad irons were revolutionary in the world of ironing during the late 1800s and early 1900s. These irons, unlike previous ones, were able to iron clothes from either end. Mrs. Potts sad irons were always sold in sets of three with one wooden handle, which allowed one to speed up the ironing process by switching between irons, rather than waiting for an iron to heat up again. These particular sad irons were donated to the museum by the Charles A Hughes family.
