Fanning Mill - by Fresno Agricultural Works - The raisin grape machinery purchased in 1920 by Samuel Jr. and Mary Jane Reber was 25 years old at the time and had never been used. The machines were hand operated and were used to do custom work for others as well as their own use. The machinery not only removed the stems, leaves and other foreign material, but graded them into three sizes, Jumbo, regular, and Currant. Raisins were pressed into 25 lb wooden boxes for market. They were sold for cash and exchanged for own needs. To market Samuel Jr. traveled yearly to Cedar City, Utah with his load of boxed raisins by team and wagon.
