Albumen photographic print of William S. Barrett (1811-1889) of Camden seated at his home near Lake Megunticook holding an 1812-era rifle and trapping gear. Barrett was the son of Daniel Barrett who moved from Concord, Massachusetts to Camden in 1792. Daniel Barrett build the Turnpike (Rt.52) along the base of Mt. Megunticook to simplify the journey from his home to his church in Lincolnville. When Daniel died in 1850, William inherited the turnpike farm property with his wife Martha Pendleton.Photograph Details
