Description

A woman, likely Mary Gookin, standing by a railing along a road with a woven basket on the ground beside her. She has some jars balanced on the railing, identified by Kay White, great granddaughter.; Two women looking at a snake in the grass with a house and mountain in the background. Photo album c 1898-1899, B&W photos, 3.3" square, 95 pages, two images per page, mounted on heavy cardboard pages. The Gookin cottage on Lake Megunticook and presumably the Gookins and friends are the subjects. Mary Isabel Cleveland Gookin is likely the photographer. Also included is a folder of genealogical notes, research, and correspondence related to the album and the family. Photo album c 1898-1899, donated by Ken Weed, belonged to his grandmother.
