Scope and Content

1773 Indenture on wove paper of 3 pages dated April 7, 1773, formally dissolving Abraham Ogier of Quebec from his partnership with a London based corporation seeking to profit from the establishment of a company in Quebec that Ogier oversaw. The partnership lasted from 1767 through 1773, when the remaining 4 members, dissatisfied with the way Abraham Ogier ran it over in Quebec, agreed to forgive his promissory note debts if he would surrender title and rights to any and all future profits, Abraham being tremendously in debt ( (5,680 English Pounds!) to Peter Ogier (His father) and the 4 others in that corporation. Shortly thereafter, in June, Abraham Ogier and his wife and young son turned up in Camden, Maine, where a corporation known as the Twenty Associates agreed to grant him Lot No. 33 at Beauchamp Neck. He was to spend a few days per year tending to town business, and he would be able to work the land in perpetuity. Physical Characteristics: Fragile
