Negro Island logbook (1876-1879) kept by lighthouse keeper Joshua Bramhall. The original lighthouse was built by George Galt in 1835. The federal government began requiring records of lighthouses in 1872. This journal keeps a daily record of number and type of vessels that passed by the lighthouse in Camden harbor from January 1, 1876 to December 31, 1879. Also notes daily weather conditions. Bramhall was appointed December 13, 1872 and resigned December 20, 1879. Negro Island was renamed Curtis Island in the 1930s.Collection
