Scope and Content

Scrapbook of newspaper clippings and ephemera relating to the life and career of Elijah Kent Hubbard, Jr. (1869-1941). Scrapbook begins in 1912 and the last page of material ends June 1941, two months before his death in August 1941. Elijah Kent Hubbard married Helen Keep (Otis) Hubbard and had four children. E. Kent was president of the Manufacturers Association of Connecticut for 30 years, and served on several municipal committees. Born in Chicago, he moved to Middletown as a child and had extensive connections to the prominent families of Connecticut--his great-uncle founded Russell Manufacturing and his grandmother was Elizabeth DeKoven. He had a summer home in Camden, Maine, once owning the High Street estate "Norumbega," and he was active in the establishment of the Megunticook Golf Club.
