My dear Mrs. Dickens--
Yours of July 8th acquainting me with my election as a member of the board of trustees of the Camden Public Library received.
I thank you, and the trustees, and deeply appreciate the honor conferred.
I am greatly interested in the library and will always give it my hearty interest and cooperation.
I regret, however, that it does not seem practical, on account of household duties, and other interests, to accept the office. I have given the matter careful and serious consideration and [while, crossed out] my interests are with you, yet it seems best under the circumstances to so decide.
