Scope and Content

Desk register from Bay View House, dated June 12, 1891, to September 26, 1891. The Bay View House stood on what is now the Village Green. It burned down in 1917. The book is stamped "REGISTER" and "BAY VIEW HOUSE" on the spine; quarter-bound in leather and cloth. The register contains an American Hotel Guide, listed by state, with rates (20 pages). The registry pages list handwritten names of guests, hometown, and D, B, or T (presumed Dinner, Breakfast, or Tea). The registry is interleaved with local ads. (See list) Guests included the Gorman Minstrels, Fadette Ladies Orchestra, Bigelow & Cooke's Stock Co., Winthrop Yacht Club, Belfast Band, Sanborn's Orchestra, and many individuals and parties.
