Suffolk, ss. Commonwealth of Massachusetts
At a Circuit Court of Common Pleas for the Middle Circuit begun and held at Boston, within and for the Country of Suffolk, on the third Tuesday of April being the twenty first Day of the said Month, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twelve
John H. Schaffer of said Boston trader Plaintiff, vs. Ephraim Barrett of Camden in the County of Lincoln Gentleman otherwise called trader
in a Plea of the Case, for that the said Barrett at Camden towit at said Boston on the thirteenth day of November now last past by his promissory note of that date by him subscribed for value received promised the Plaintiff by the name of John Shaffer to pay him on order the sum of one hundred and seventeen dollars & thirty five cents in the month of January then next but long since elapsed. Yet the said Barrett though often requested since the expiration of said month of January hath not paid the same but neglects and refuses so to do
To the Damage of the said Schaffer as he saith, the Sum of Two hundred Dollars.
And now the plaintiff appears; but the Defendant, although solemnly called to come into Court, does not appear, but makes Default.
IT IS THEREFORE CONSIDERD BY THE COURT, That the said John H. Schaffer recover against the said Ephraim Barrett the sum of Eighteen dollars & ninety seven cents Damage, and Costs of Suit, taxed at Four dollars & Seventy four cents
