KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, THAT I Nathan Brown of Camden in the County of Waldo & State of Maine, Trader
In consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars paid by William George Barrett of Said Camden Yeoman the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, do hereby give, grant, bargain, and sell and convey unto the said William George Barrett, his heirs and assigns forever, a certain piece or parcel of land situated in said Camden & being a part of Lot Number Seventeen Miller's Survey-Second Division-viz bounded as follows to wit Beginning at a stake & stones at the Westerly corner of Lot 17 Thence running on the line of Lot No. 18 North 67° East forty eight rods to Molinoux Pond-Thence South Easterly by said Pond about forty six rod to a hemlock tree-thence South sixty seven degrees West bounded by my land sixty rods to a fir tree-thence North twenty-one degrees West forty four rods to first mentioned bounds, containing 14 acres & ¾ of an acre towit fourteen acres & three quarters of a share??-also one other part of said lot No. 17 bounded a South Easterly by lot No. 16-South Westerly on that part of Lot No. 23 Southerly of its intersection by the pond & thence around by the Pond to the South eastern corner of said lot No 17-containing fifteen acres more or less
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the aforegranted and bargained premises, with all the privileges and appurtenances thereof, to the said William George Barrett, his heirs and assigns, to their use and behoof forever…And I do covenant with the said William George Barrett, his hers and assigns, that I am lawfully seized in fee of premises; that they are free of all incumbrances; that I have good right to sell and convey the same to the said William George Barrett to hold as aforesaid….And that I and my heirs shall and will warrant and defend the same to the said William George Barrett, his heirs and assigns forever, against the lawful claims and demands of all persons.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I the said Nathan Brown & I Susan wife of the said Nathan, in token of my relinquishment of all claim to dower in said premises have hereunto set our hands and seals this twentieth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six
