A PLAN OF THE COUNTY OF LINCOLN AS AT PRESENT IT STANDS ESTABLISHED BY THE LEGISLATURE…This copy is a print from a digital scan of a photostat at the Camden-Rockport Historical Society, which shows the southern portion of the original map in the Massachusetts Archives. The Massachusetts Archives call information is Series Title, Maps and Plans; Agency Code, SC1; Series 50; Title, Map of Lincoln County with seashore and islands…S. Weston, Surveyor…; Date 1790, Dec. 10; Map number 976. The approximate size of the original map is 4 feet by six feet, paper mounted on linen with rollers. It shows the County of Lincoln as it appeared after the 1789 separation of Hancock County, extending from the seacoast to the Canadian border. It was prepared for the Committee on the Sale of Eastern [Maine] Lands, and was updated subsequent to its original drafting by annotations on changes in Plantation/Town names, and the addition of the population of each from the 1790 US Census as published in 1791 .Some wear has affected portions of the original map since the Photostat was taken, so this copy may be useful to compare.
