Alexander Bisset Munro left his birthplace of Inverness, Scotland at the age of 14. He settled in the West Indies for 18 years, eventually owning a plantation. Accompanied shipment of his goods to Maine, met and fell in love with Captain Dockendorff's sister, Jane; sold his holdings in the West Indies, came back to Maine to marry Jane who bore him 14 children in Bristol, Maine.
