Adams of Camden, Maine dated 22 January 1836: "At sight (?) for value rec'd please pay to the order of Mr. Charles Pendleton four hundred twenty dollars and 70/100 and charge the same with or without further advice to the account of your obt. servant Saml. G. Adams" Adams was a merchant, militia officer, selectman, and state legislator from Camden, Maine.
