Letter to Joel Fay of Boston, Massachusetts from Samuel G. Adams of Camden, Maine dated 20 August 1838: "Dear Sir, I send your check of 350$ on the Suffolk Bank, also 50$ in Bank Bills making 400$. If Capt Spaulding of the Brig Adams has paid you money on my a/c I wish you to take up my note of $54.27 in hand of Messrs Blanchard & Blodget and pay the balance to Messr (?) F. Morse (?) to be enclosed on my note in their hands. But if Capt. Spaulding has not paid you any money for me - then, I wish you to retain two hundred of this money and pay the other $200 to Messr. S. F. Morse (?) and you will oblige your friend, Samuel G. Adams"
