Grand Army of the Republic, Department of Maine, Post No. 69 Transfer Card certifying that James Lane is a member in good standing of Post 69 and recommends him for admission into any other Post, dated 6 June 1888.
The following is a transcript from the records of the post:
"Comrade James G. Lane is 42 years of age, was born in Deer Isle, State of Maine and is by occupation a farmer, entered the service on the 26 day of December 1863 as a private, Regiment 2nd Maine Battery, and was finally discharged on the 16 day of June 1865 as a private, Regiment 2nd Maine Battery by reason of discharge, having served one year 6 months. Joined this Post by transfer Dec. 2nd, 1885. Dated at Appleton this 6th day of June, 1888."
