Scope and Content

Diary written by John Lymburner Locke (1832-1876), Camden resident, historian, and author of "Sketches of the History of the Town of Camden, Maine" published in 1859. Locke was a resident of Belfast, Maine until October 1854, when he moved his watch and jewelry business to Camden. Diary covers period from 14 May 1865 to 5 December 1865 during a period in which Locke was residing in Belfast and Ellsworth, Maine. Writing is very descriptive and details his daily life and travels between various towns in Maine.
