Description

The town of Alna is in Lincoln County. The region was settled around 1760 and incorporated on 13 February 1760 as Pownalborough. The area encompassing the original town of Pownalborough included the later towns of Alna, Wiscasset, Dresden and Perkins Township with Alna known as the North precinct. When the town of Alna was set off from Pownalborough, it was incorporated under the name of New Milford on 25 June 1794 as the 91st town in Maine. The name of the town was changed to Alna on 28 February 1811. This book contains a verbatim transcription of al the vital records for the town of Alna as found on the microfilm located in the Maine State Archives in Augusta.
