A trivia card game developed and published by the Shakespeare Club of Camden, Maine, in 1897.
The Shakespeare Club was related to the local Chautauquan Literary and Scientific Circle, a magazine and self-education program for adults in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The society's magazine, "The Chautauquan," mentions that the secretary of the Shakespeare Club was a member of the class of 1900 (vol. 40). A later issue (vol. 42), mentions that the Shakespeare Club began as a Chautauqua Circle, and a still later issue (vol. 46) names Jessica Lewis of Camden was a member of the club.
The game was also reviewed in the Bowdoin Orient in 1898.
Consists of 60 trivia cards, an instruction sheet, contained in a small box. The cards are decorated with a drawing of "Camden Mountains," including the harbor and Mount Battie.Collection
