WHC 2018.21.2Description
"The Megunticook" Spring 1932 Newsletter details the upcoming camping season during the summer of that year. It features an introduction page detailing the mission and goals of Camp Megunticook. The following page features a poem by Eugene Field and a sketch of a man canoeing near a camp. The newsletter details plans for the 1932 season - the 27th year that the camp operated. It includes instructions on how to travel via train to and from the camp at opening and closing of the season. Contains a note that Camp Megunticook will be selling neither soap nor suspenders. Several pages are devoted to the activities that will occur during the season, such as fishing, woodworking, game photography, hiking, etc. The last page contains a map of the region north of Ellsworth, with the then new basecamp "Camp Pal O Mine" on the bottom left. At the top right of the map is "Trails End Camp" which is linked to Camp Palomine via a series of lakes and rivers which some of the older campers will traverse during the season.Collection
