The Beltane Papers was a "news-journal" devoted to women's spirituality and thealogy. While primarily focused on feminist spiritual women, the magazine also accepted submissions from native American, Feminist Christian, Feminist Jewish, African and Black spiritual writers. The magazine included articles, letters, and regular columns on dreams, nutrition, reviews, myths and legends, poetry, artwork, short stories, and works of fantasy.

Published out of Clear Lake, Washington, "The Beltane Papers" were published by varying imprints, with its first two volumes published by Juno's Peacock Press and its third volume published by The Seven Sisters corporation. The publication underwent a reorganization in 1992, resulting in a new numbering starting with Issue #1. The reorganization resulted in the creation of the Brideswell Collective, which manages digital and physical publication until this day.Publication Details
