Context

The Seneca Women's Encampment for a Future of Peace and Justice was a women-only peace camp formed to protest the scheduled deployment of Cruise and Pershing II missiles before their suspected shipment from the Seneca Army Depot to Europe in the fall of 1983. The Syracuse Cultural Workers' Peace Calendar, which began in 1972, is a long-running, annual publication focused on peace, social justice, and progressive history. While the Syracuse Peace Council published the first 11 editions, the Syracuse Cultural Workers have produced it since 1982.
