Founded in Brooklyn, NY by Elly Bulkin, Jan Clausen, Irena Kelpfisz, and Rima Shore, the magazine was published biannually from 1977 to 1980 and annually from 1980 to 1990. Numerous editors built and maintained the magazine, including but not limited to Barbara Smith, Jewelle Gomez, and Rima Shore. Audre Lorde joined myriad contributors and published through Conditions.The magazine ceased publication in 1990, as existing collective members moved on to other projects, and no new members took their place.Publication Details
