"Curve" was a glossy magazine first published as "Deneuve" ("The Curve") magazine. "Deneuve" was founded by Frances "Franco" Stevens in San Francisco in 1990. While working at "A Different Light" bookstore, she noticed that bookstores and newsstands had few Lesbian publications to offer, so she decided to do something about it. The magazine was rebranded as "Curve" in 1996 after a trademark dispute with French actress Catherine Deneuve. After years as a print publication,"Curve" is now published as a digital quarterly by the Curve Foundation. The Curve Foundation champions LGBTQ+ women’s and nonbinary people’s culture and stories through intergenerational programming and community building. It is inclusive of all who identify as part of the "Curve" community. The Curve Foundation brings the "Curve" magazine archive to life, providing context and a throughline between the critical conversations in the 1990s and early 2000s and today.Publication Details
