Description

"Gallerie" magazine primarily printed and promoted women's art and writing. Each issue featured the portfolios of about 40 female artists. This issue features 45 women artists, including Judy Chicago, Sue Coe, Sharron Zenith Corne, the Guerrilla Girls, Helen Lucas, Susan Point, and Nancy Spero, with articles on women's culture by Bettina Aptheker and Judy Grahn. HOLDINGS: Vol. 1 Issue 1, January 1988.

Context

Established and edited by Lesbian artist & writer Caffyn Kelley, "Gallerie" was a Canadian feminist art periodical published in Vancouver, B.C. from 1988 until 1994. It was formed to promote women artists & writers & provide them a place to "discuss their art & lives in their own words."
