Each issue of "Heresies" would focus on a single topic and each had a distinct style and perspective. Subjects included feminist theory, lesbian art and artists, women's traditional arts and crafts, politics in general and the politics of aesthetics, patterns of communication, patterns of communication, violence against women, working women, women from peripheral nations, women and music, sex, film, activism, racism, postmodernism, and coming of age.
