The Kathy Lewis Collection documents the life and work of Connecticut-based craftswoman and community organizer Kathy Lewis, co-founder of the New England Women’s Music Retreat (NEWMR). Materials include administrative files, correspondence, programs, and craftswomen applications related to NEWMR (1981–2000), as well as photographs, flyers, and portfolios from Lewis’s woodworking and jewelry business. Additional records document the Craftswimmins Mutual Aid Society (CMAS), the Senior Lesbians at Play Happily group (SLAPHAPS), and Lewis’s oral herstory with the Old Lesbian Oral Herstory Project. Together, the materials highlight Lesbian cultural networks, feminist craft movements, and women’s music communities in New England from the 1980s through the 2010s.Collection
