Context

Established in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1972 as a forum for MIT women to communicate "their ideas, their art, talents, and skills, as well as their needs as women, to the rest of the community," "Sojourner" gradually grew to be one of the U.S.'s most prominent feminist news publications serving a wide audience. However, it struggled financially and eventually shut down in 2002.
