In 1974, Ruth and Jean Mountaingrove founded "WomanSpirit," a Lesbian feminist quarterly based in southern Oregon near Wolf Creek and published on the Equinoxes and Solstices. It was the first American Lesbian feminist periodical focused on feminism and spirituality. Many of the contributors to "WomanSpirit" were, or became, prominent in the women's spirituality movement. The Mountaingroves were dedicated to the Womyn’s land, part of the Lesbian separatist movement focused on fostering women-centric spaces. Issues from 1978 to the last issues in 1984 were produced on their land.Publication Details
