The Women's Review of Books (WRB) was founded by Linda Gardiner in October 1983 to give writing by feminist scholars and creative writers a serious critical reception; to promote women's critical writing; and to provide a forum for feminist scholars, writers, and activists. Originally supported by the Wellesley Centers for Women, Women's Review of Books suspended monthly publication in 2004 due to financial issues. In 2005, Old City Publishing took over WRB's business functions. In 2006, WRB was relaunched as a bimonthly publication, continuing until 2021. In 2023, WRB officially separated from the Wellesley Centers from Women, with Old City Publishing taking over all editorial roles, with plans to relaunch the magazine in Spring 2026.Publication Details
