HOLDINGS: Vol. 10 #1, Summer 1990; Vol. 10 #2, Fall 1990; Vol. 10 #3, Winter 1991; Vol. 10 #4, Spring 1991; Vol. 11 #1, Summer 1991. Donor letter from Miriam Monasch. Women's Braille Press Literature Catalog, 1986-87 (single issue, included with letter).

Context

Womyn's Braille Press was founded in Minneapolis, Minnesota by Marj Schneider, who wanted to take a proactive approach to providing books for disabled women. WBP made feminist and lesbian literature accessible to women who were blind or print-disabled. The Press was notable for reproducing works the Library of Congress deemed "too risqué" for blind readers, including "Dykes to Watch Out For" by Alison Bechdel. The press produced tapes and braille print, often "underground," meaning they remained absent from the Library of Congress.
