Mature Norwegian Woman in Studio Portrait. Material: paper. Size: 2 1/2" x 4". Description: The image is a sepia-toned portrait of a woman from the late 19th or early 20th century; she is dressed in a high-necked, dark garment embellished with intricate lace, and a pendant necklace complements her outfit, while her hair is neatly pulled back, all captured against a softly faded background. The reverse side displays an elegant cursive handwritten message in Norwegian addressed to someone named Lina Martinson. The date on the card is noted as May 6, 1903. The card seems to commemorate a 55th "fødselsdag," which means birthday from your sister "Berthe Olsen, Gjorvik, Norway."Photograph Details
