Description

Pinning Blanket or Infant Petticoat. Material: textile. Size: 9 1/2" W. x 29 1/2" L. Description: white cotton with wide band at top and a long, gathered skirt attached to band, ruffled edging at bottom hem.

Use

A pinning blanket is a square or oblong piece of (usually) flannel, wrapped around an infant's body below the arms, the part extending beyond the feet being turned up and pinned. But, since this has a ruffle at the bottom, it seems more likely it wouldn't have been pinned up, but worn long as a petticoat
