Description

Cradle. Material: wood. Size: 19 3/4" W. x 25" L. x 36 1/2" L. Description: dark stained and finished walnut; thin paneled sides; decorative grooved higher ends; four removable pine slats mattress holder; curved rocker panel on each end.

Context

Richard Barden is donor's grandfather and had 13 children. Richard Barden's father was Tom Barden, one of the original settlers. Ambrose Barden donor's father rocked in cradle and several of donors sisters - Martha (Barden) Myszka's children. Martha and her husband had the cradle refinished and replaced venner panels in the 1950s. The Barden farm is near St. Mary's church, the cemetery is on the Barden land.
