Leather Postcard to James GallagherEntry/Object ID
25.23.21Description
Material: leather. Size: 3" x 5". The postcard image shows an illustration of a woman in a vintage 1900 style, holding a glass in a celebratory manner, with text next to her that reads: "Here's to the man who is wisest and best; Here's to the man who with judgement is blest; Here's to the man who's as smart as can be; I mean the man who agrees with me." The artwork, surrounded by a decorative border, is done on a textured, reddish-brown leather background. The reverse side image showcases an old postcard with a textured brown surface, adorned with faded black postal markings, including a visible postmark from Mankato dated December 22, 1906, alongside handwritten text that appears to be an address with the name "Mr. J. A. Gallagher, Janesville, Minn. " prominently displayed in cursive script. Faintly imaged at the bottom are the initials of the sender "K. M. M." Copyright W. S. Neal.Context
