Description

Myrtle Klampe's 1904 Wedding Ensemble. Size: ---- Description: Taupe synthetic fiber (likely rayon) dress with satin ruched trim (also likely rayon). Embellished with lace yoke, flounce and cuffs. The ensemble consists of two waists: a.) seen in the wedding photo, and b.) an "everyday" jumper bodice, meant to be worn over a blouse. c.) Skirt would be worn with either. a.) v-necked lace yoke (front and back) is missing the high stand up collar (would have been attached as a separate piece). The yoke is framed by a sheer lace flounce. Front is embellished with ruched satin, and further with large faceted metallic Czech glass buttons. The two lower ones are missing. Bishop sleeves have long lace cuffs. Worn as wedding dress. b.) Jumper top of same fabrics. Heavier fabric is edged with satin trim. The sides are attached with 5 "ribbons" across the open front and back. Front has a blouson effect and is fastened with snaps. Full cap sleeves also have the cutout ribbon effect and are meant to go over full sleeves. Likely worn as part of a day dress. c.) Gored skirt has vertical tucks and tiers of tabs edged with satin trim. Alternate gores have two rows of wide tucks at hem. Worn with each of the above waist options.
