Context

This house was built in 1903 by Dr. Martin Taylor and his wife, Stella Carpenter Taylor. It was occupied subsequently by families with the names of Murphy, Johnson and Meyer. In 1965 it was purchased by John and Pauline Haug Fenelon. In the 1930s it was briefly owned by Gosewich Funeral Homes of Mankato. During and after that time, until 2000, many people lived in rented rooms on the second floor. In 2000, Pauline Fenelon opened a bed and breakfast there called Fenelon Place Bed & Breakfast.
