August 22, 1970 Pete Kunst showed up in Ligonier, Pennsylvania from Santa Ana, California to walk with Dave and John for three days. It was the only time the three Kunst brothers walked together on the world walk. When Pete said good-bye he made a promise that if anything happened to either one of his brothers he would be willing to step in and help finish the walk. Two years later when John Kunst was shot and killed by bandits in Afghanistan Pete would fulfill that promise.Photograph Details
