Description

Springfield Breech Loading Rifle. Material: metal and wood. Size: 51 1/2" L. Stock size: 47 1/4" L. Barrel size: 32 1/2" L. Description: wooden stock attached to metal barrel; adjustable sight; outside hammer; two metal bands attach barrel to stock; two sling rings; front attached to ring holding barrel; back attached to trigger guard; engraved eagle and "U.S. Springfield 1873 - Model - 1877 US 'Trapdoor' rifle. Caliber - .45. Place of mfg. - Springfield Armory. Date of Mfg. - 1878. Ammunition - 45-70 Cartridge. Ammunition performance - 405 gr bullet at 1285 FPS".

Cleaned and researched by Gary Taylor 4/3/1993. Manlicher sight. Made in Springfield. Has the original stock on it. Much more accuracy to this sight. Used in the Indian War.
