Description

Communion Sick Call Set. Material: metal, wood, textile, cork. Size: 10 1/2" W. x 11 1/4" L. x 4 1/2" H. Description: oak case (59.89); brass trim includes hinges, latch, top cornices, and center top cross all attached with tiny brads; purple cotton lining. Contents: (a) Crucifix. Size: 5 1/4" W. x 8 1/4" L. (b) Candleabra. Size: 9 1/4" W. x 6" H. Description: silver plated Candleabra; one candle holder on each side; crucifix attaches between candleholders; center extension: shell-shaped holy water basin. (c} Candleabra base. Size: 4 1/2" diameter. Description: silver plated circular base tapers to a dome-shaped top with opening to insert candleabra. (d,e) Paten. Size: 5 1/2" diameter. Description: silver colored metal; depressed center etched with ornate "HIS" (two plates) - floral pattern etched around raised rim; stamped on bottom: "Sick-Call Outfit, Special Metal, Pat'd April '97", Silver Plate Co." (f) Bottle. Size: 1 5/8" W. x 1 1/4" D. x 4 1/2" H. Description: clear glass; straight-sided; narrow neck opening; cork stopper; raised cross graphic and lettering on front: "Holy Water, E Michmann Co., St. Paul". (g) Bottle. Size: 2 1/2" W. x 3" H. Description: clear glass; rounded shape; narrow threaded neck opening; metal threaded flat cap - raised cross on front - raised printing on back: "For Holy Water Keep Constantly Filled". (h) Bottle. Size: 1 7/8" W. x 1" D. x 4 3/4" H. Description: clear glass; flares slightly from neck to base; threaded neck opening; threaded metal cap - several raised letters on bottom. (i) Aspergillum. Size: 1/2" W. x 4 1/2" L. Description: silver colored metal handle; slightly depressed on each side and displaying a raised cross symbol within an oval border; several strands of horsehair extends from handle. (j) Dispenser. Size: 2 1/4" W. x 4 1/2" L. Description: oval shaped silver colored metal cup - gold plated metal interior (peeling); short curved handle extends from one end embossed with cross and floral symbols; rim tapers to a point on other end; stamped on bottom: "Roman Silver Plate Co., Quadruple Plate, Special Metal, Sick-Call Outfit, Pat'd April '97".

Context

Boxed set includes crucifix and candle holder, patens, holy water bottles, aspergillum and liquid dispenser in a hinged oak box. Compact for ease in travel.
