Description

Double-Barrel Shotgun. Material: wood, metal. Size: 42 1/2" L. Description: muzzle loading double-barrel 12 gauge shotgun; brown finished wooden stock; "HG 1837" metal symbol on stock.

Context

Frank Goodspeed: "It came through the Massachusetts living area of the Goodspeeds when some of them came out here on a vacation and they brought that gun along. I think there were two or three such hunters. After they had hunted and had a shooting contest and displayed the marksmanship of this gun and these men who came out here and spent a couple of weeks having a royal time, then they packed up and went home and left the gun as a gift to some generation."
