Snow Drifts on Waseca State StreetEntry/Object ID
7.25.14Description
Snow Scene on Waseca State Street. Material: paper. Size 3 1/2” x 5 1/2”. A snow-covered Main Street in Waseca, Minnesota, with large drifts of snow piled high along the side of the road, partially obscuring the storefronts and making the street appear barely navigable; the architecture features classic early 20th-century brick buildings, with the store signs for "Grapp's Furniture & Carpet Co." and "Wolf & Habein" visible along the row, while leafless trees and telegraph poles line the street; the County Courthouse is in the background.
On the reverse is a handwritten message to "Leo" asking how he is and expressing that the sender hasn't heard from him in a long time. The postcard is addressed to Mr. Leo Guyer at 501 Paxton Blk., Omaha, Nebraska, and is postmarked with a date stamp of July 25, 1914, from Waseca, Minnesota. A green US postage 1 cent stamp featuring Benjamin Franklin in upper right corner. Signed by William S.Photograph Details
