Scope and Content

Sons of Norway Organization Book. Material: paper. Size: 8 1/2" x 14". The images show several pages from a book with handwritten and printed text. At the top of the first page are handwritten notes that read "Hallvard Askeland, Dist. Sec., 3600 Portland Ave, Minneapolis Minn." Below that is another handwritten section that says "Minutes, Sons of Norway, Waseca." The handwritten document records the organization of the "Sons of Norway" on April 20, 1929, at Moose Hall, Waseca, Minnesota, with District President Andrew Dahlen presiding and Secretary K. Asklund as pianist; it lists members such as Joseph Alland and Ferdinand Carlson, and elected officers including President Dr. Orvie Swenson, Vice President Joseph Alland, and Judge Oscar O. Storlie, along with assistant roles for various members. Several more meetings are recorded from April 29, 1929 to January 15, 1930. Another page displays a handwritten list on lined paper, featuring the names of individuals of founding members written in cursive. A few of the entries have additional annotations like "Life" written in pencil, while others have been partially crossed out. The list includes a variety of names such as Joseph Alland, Theodore Breck, and Ferdinand Carlson, among others.
