7.25.16Description
Waseca St. Patrick's Day Parade. Material: paper. Size 3 1/2” x 5 1/2”. The image depicts a St. Patrick's Day parade on March 17, 1909, with a marching band and a line of people walking down snow-dusted West Elm Avenue in Waseca. Spectators line the sidewalk outside buildings, including the prominent Hotel Ryan, horse-drawn carriages, vintage signage, and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church steeple in the background.
Reverse side of the postcard carries a green one-cent U.S. postage stamp, postmarked March 18, 1909. It is addressed to Leo G. Guyer in Omaha, Nebraska, and contains handwritten cursive text discussing candy received the previous morning, noting its quality and mentioning an event that they couldn't attend on time, resulting in their hunger. The writer also comments that a "Show" was busy, encouraging the recipient to write back.Photograph Details
