Description

Waseca County Fair Parade. Material: paper. Size 3 1/2” x 5 1/2”. The sepia-toned image of a lively parade at the Waseca County Fair in September 1909; a marching band proceeds down a street lined with awnings and advertisements, surrounded by onlookers wearing early 20th-century attire. Signs for cigars and clothing for sale in adjacent businesses, while various fair-goers, including women with parasols and children look on. A festive arch and banners proclaim the event details. The reverse side of the postcard features a handwritten message addressed to "Leo G. Guyer" at "501 Paxton Blk, Omaha, Neb." A green one-cent postage stamp is affixed in the top right corner. The message, written in cursive, begins with a Saturday note expressing that the view isn't very good but promises to send better ones later. The writer mentions "the big show" is over, and they purely enjoyed it, referencing an advertisement for Getty's Livery that won first prize.
