According to a facebook conversation with Brother David Colbeth, Alvin W. Jorgensen was the first Grand Master to issue a coin, beginning the trend as we know it today. He wrote: "es, MWB Al Jorgensen was the "first" to do a coin with proceeds originally to be designated for the Youth Groups! As a retired Air Force Colonel, challenge coins were a "thing" and he extended the idea to the Freemasons of Washington"Create Date
