Context

In 1947, the Barclay Perkins Brewery in Southwark, London, was still a major producer of beer, particularly its Russian Imperial Stout. The brewery was known for producing dated vintages of its beer, with a dated vintage existing for 1935 and each brew being dated from 1949 onwards, according to www.mpeterson.co.uk. The brewery buildings were ultimately demolished in 1981, according to Barclays Group. Source Brewery History Society.
