In 1947, the Barclay Perkins Brewery in Southwark, London, was still a major producer of beer, particularly its Russian Imperial Stout. The brewery was known for producing dated vintages of its beer, with a dated vintage existing for 1935 and each brew being dated from 1949 onwards, according to www.mpeterson.co.uk.
