Description

A ceramic and metal shop counter bell.

Context

Possibly made to celebrate the marriage of Edward Prince of Wales, "Bertie", to Princess Alexandra of Denmark, in 1863. They remained Prince and Princes of Wales until Queen Victoria's death in1901 and were crowned Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, in 1902.. The bell was made by Newman & Co, 83 Euston Road, London. The premises of the company was between Euston and St Pancreas stations.
