Description

Leather case/wallet with metal slide lock and chain, and a shoulder strap. A brass name plate is attached to the front of the wallet.

Context

The Blacketts of Thorpe date back to the 14th century and were based in the Newcastle district. The first Blackett to be created a baronet was William in 1673. The second William in the family was Sir William the 5th Baronet who died in 1816. The purchase of Thorpe Lea House in Surrey was made in 1756, and included a mansion, gardens and the free public-house known as The Old Pipe-House together with 103 acres.
